Play
Therapy
Rationale:
Play Therapy is a form
of therapy used both for children and adults alike, but used more
primarily for children. This is because children may not be able to
process their own emotions or articulate problems to parents or
other adults. Many therapists using Play Therapy for the first time
with their clients use the word "magic" to describe the results.
Children's responses to this approach do indeed seem magical, and
this is perhaps attributable to the special qualities of childhood.
The practice of Play Therapy is becoming widespread and is
increasingly being used around the world. Play is an activity done
for fun and it encourages creativity, imagination, general
intelligence and helps young people to get along with others. The
approaches to Play Therapy presented include group, family, and
individual play interventions in different settings. Play Therapy
has a long history of effectiveness in helping children and adults
live their lives with greater happiness and richness.
